ingredients Bacon waffles


  1. 1 parcel Dry yeast
  2.  ½ teaspoon sugar
  3. 125 g bacon
  4. 100 g Fried onions (finished product)
  5. 1 teaspoon dried marjoram (alternatively rosemary or herbs of Provence)
  6. 1 egg
  7.  salt
  8.  pepper
  9. 75 g soft butter
  10. 200 g Flour
  11. 100 g Whole wheat flour
  12.  Fat for the waffle iron

 Bacon waffles preparation 

  1. Mix the yeast and sugar with 100 ml of lukewarm water. Cover and let rest in a warm place for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, finely dice the bacon and fry until crispy in a hot pan without fat. Degrease on paper towels.
  2. Mix the bacon, fried onions, marjoram, the egg, a pinch of salt, pepper and butter with the whisk of the hand mixer. Sieve the flour and wholemeal flour on top, pour in the yeast water, mix everything roughly. Stir another 300 ml of lukewarm water evenly into the dough with a wooden spoon. Cover and let the dough rest for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  3. Preheat the waffle iron, thinly grease the baking surfaces. Place 2 tablespoons of batter in the middle of the lower baking surfaces, close the waffle iron. Bake the waffles one after the other for 2-3 minutes until golden. Place on a wire rack and continue doing this until the batter is used up. Marjoram apples or garlic dip go well with it.
