Bhuna Masala


Ingredients:1 pound boneless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 2 medium-sized onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for cooking
  • Freshly chopped coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  • In a non-stick pan, heat 3 tablespoons of oil on medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the finely chopped onions and green chilies. Saute until the onions turn translucent.
  • Add the ginger and garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell of ginger and garlic disappears.
  • Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well and sauté for a few seconds.
  • Add the chicken pieces and sauté on high heat until the chicken turns slightly brown.
  • Add the yogurt and mix well. Reduce the heat to low and cook until the chicken is tender and the gravy thickens.
  • Add salt to taste and mix well. Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with rice or naan.
